Filmar Technologies LLC is wiping one hard drive at time in a Global $20 Billion IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) Market

March 10, 2017, 09:40 ET

We are pleased to announce that Filmar Technologies LLC can now efficiently and securely wipe hard drives without having to install them on desktops or laptops in large quantities under DOD/NIST standards, generating more value for our business while also freeing up valuable time and resources so our technicians can focus on other projects.

“Our old system did the job, but it was not efficient,” says Peter Orlando, of Filmar Technologies LLC. Before, you had to go onto each computer and check each station. It was a lot more time-consuming having to look at many different monitors. Now, we are putting 60+ hard drives in one box with one monitor.

So, how are we doing it? We are using the latest technology solutions from petabyte storage manufacturers, partnering with industry leading data erasure developers along with our software development solution that captures the following info: physical size of the HDD, wipe method, i.e., U.S. Department of Defense 5220.22-M, time/date stamps, serial numbers, and many more details.

Our old solution couldn’t keep up with our growth and customer demands. Not only did the number of drives per wipe need to be increased, but the time of each wipe required to be sped up. Now, with our direct wired approach, our data wipes times are significantly shorter and failure rates have been greatly reduced compared to previous methods.

These solutions saves an enormous amount of space for wiping and allows us to wipe more drives per sq. ft. We can run 60+ hard drives at one time, mixed with 2.5″ SSD, 3.5 desktop drives, and SAS drives.

It’s a fully customizable process from start to finish. Customizable erasure reports, printable and digital certificates, and labels can be created to confirm the sanitization and maintain accountability. Our customers can log in and get a daily status report of each wipe.

Securly: Software to Protect Students

Shelby Township, Michigan, April 29, 2016 â€”Filmar partners with Securly to bring innovative tracking software to school-issued hardware. Securly‘s software is the first of its kind, utilizing cloud-based technology to track student usage. This enables parents and schools to go beyond simply blocking unwanted websites and protect students from slipping grades, cyberbullying, and even self harm.

This innovative software alleviates the need for excessive monitoring of students technology usage by school officials and parents.

We’ve been offering refurbished IT assets to K-12 schools with custom applications through our SLED Program for the past year, and are very excited to announce this important step toward greater student safety. Our goal is to help parents, students, and schools promote responsible digital citizenship among K-12 students.

Read this blog post for more on the importance of this software for the future of your school.

Filmar Technologies Launches SLED Program

Shelby Township, Michigan, June 20, 2015 â€” Filmar Technologies has launched its certified off-lease technology program directed at finding I.T. solutions for schools and other educational institutions. Filmar Technologies specializes in business quality refurbished I.T. computer equipment as a cost savings solution, packed with an above industry standard warranty.

Very often, schools and government institutions are looking for ways to pay as little as possible and to stretch their budget without compromising capacity and quality.

“School districts want I.T. equipment that performs and lasts much longer than other businesses would consider reasonable. Our Filmar certified refurbished I.T. equipment gives the schools what they want, within their budget,” reports Phil Biundo, Filmar Technologies CEO.

The majority of schools are trying to keep up with the constant I.T. sector upgrades utilizing a limited budget. Filmar Technologies is able replace one grade level or department at a time with refurbished I.T. assets, thus lowering the pressure on the school budget.

Initially, schools and government institutions are very hesitant to purchase off-lease computers. However, it is possible to accomplish so much more with much less money by turning toward refurbished I.T. equipment. In this way, Filmar is the perfect fit for most replacement projects.

It is very likely that several years may pass before the majority of districts can afford ‘new’ equipment. Time is not something that schools can afford to waste. Students need to be learning on the updated technology that they will need to be familiar with in today’s extremely competitive workforce.

Lower Costs, Better Schools, Cleaner Environment

CEO Phil Biundo reports “We believe that this is a perfect opportunity for our schools and government to go green, while saving some ‘green.’ Our goal is to replace aging school computers, laptops and monitors for the betterment of our educational system.”

Filmar’s refurbishment program provides updated hardware while keeping more obsolete I.T. assets out of our landfills.

Filmar has many relationships with various government institutions in the education and healthcare sector, combined with private clients in the U.S., Canada, and other countries.
